RYA Active Marina Programme celebrates successful first year

Joined by supporters and users of the Programme, Guy Malpas, RYA Yachting Development Officer who manages the scheme commented; “We are delighted to be able to toast the success of the programme so far and to thank all those who have been instrumental in making it happen”.

Partnering with marinas, RYA recognised training centres, berth holder groups and yacht clubs, the programme was created to encourage and support increased berth holder activity to help people to get more from their boating.

“It is fantastic to receive such huge support from marina groups including MDL, Premier, Yacht Havens, Dean and Reddyhoff, RYA Training Centres and most importantly from the participants. We piloted the scheme with just 12 marinas and we can now celebrate the fact that 40 marinas are proudly flying their RYA Active Marina flags” Guy concluded.

Marinas signed up to the programme are able to offer berth holders the opportunity to take part in practical workshops which are tailor made to build knowledge and boost confidence.

Alongside workshops, the Active Marina Programme also encourages marina based social events which allow berth holders the opportunity to cruise together and spend time with like-minded people.
